Olympia Co-Ed Traveling Team |
The first organized ultimate team in Olympia in recorded history (note: recorded here. Please send corrections) was formed in the spring of 1992. That first team was called "The Dawn of Spawn" and after that, just "Spawn." At one point we had a scrapbook with some photos and notes about how we did at tournaments and leagues, but I don't know where it ended up.
Spawn played spring and fall league up in Seattle, and traveled to Oregon (Portland, Corvallis, Eugene, Bend, and Ashland), BC (Vancouver and Victoria), and even all the way to Calgary a couple times.
Spawn also hosted a local tournament occasionally. One year it was called "Buns in the Rain," and a couple times it was called "Hick Huck."
The only artifacts I have from those days are some phone lists. We'd usually start the season with a phone list with nicknames for the regulars.
