It's For a Good Cause

O is dedicated to success through practice, commitment, camaraderie, and good spirit (that's right, a frisbee team with a mission). To learn more about the frisbee team called O, see this page.

Potlatch is an ultimate frisbee tournament in Redmond that is so much fun that you have to apply to get in every year. The application for entry is called a "bid." For our Potlatch bid this year, O have dedicated themselves to raise $950 (the equivalent of the Potlatch tournament fee) for a non-profit organization, by the time the first disc has been pulled at Potlatch 2009.

We chose to raise $950 for Garden-Raised Bounty (GRuB). Here's a great description from their website (http://www.goodgrub.org/):

"Garden-Raised Bounty (GRuB) is a grassroots non-profit organization dedicated to nourishing a strong community by empowering people and growing good food. We grow inspired, self-confident and community-minded youth through educational and employment opportunities. We help low-income families and seniors to help themselves by building raised-bed gardens at their homes. Our work is guided by our core values: caring youth and adult partnerships, strong communities, sustainable land stewardship, education, and good food for all people."

Fundraising activities that O is thinking of for this project include:

You can donate to Grub here: https://www.justgive.org/nonprofits/donate.jsp?ein=91-1594312. Don't forget to mention Olympia Ultimate... we're tracking our progress!

Thanks to Hannah, Jon, and Spencer for making this disc sale happen. And thanks to Beth for the great idea for our Potlatch bid.

Last year, we went to Potlatch as SombrerO with our orange jerseys. We've ditched those old jerseys, and now... we 're goin' O school... all the way to Potlatch!

Team

"Put your entire team in the spotlight. Thanks to them, you're able to experience a level of success that you wouldn't have been able to achieve on your own. Remember that when it's your turn to help one of them out."
