Potlatch 2005

We had three days of great ultimate with 108 teams from around the world. It's an amazing sight. On Saturday and Sunday in pool play, we went 1-2 both days. We played some great ultimate, enjoyed the sunshine, and suffered one heart-breaking loss. Our two victories snuck us into the "G" pool. We won the first game, advancing to the semi-finals. In the second game we started to falter, but got back on track after cheers of "damn it, Mike" gave us a second wind. Mike Santana had, of course, left after the first game because he had to work or something like that. But his spirit lived on, and so did the Artesians, winning the game and advancing to the pool championship. Unfortunately, exhaustion caught up with us, and we lost in the pool championship game against our rivals from Tacoma. I think the team had a great time, and everyone played hard 'till the tank was empty. I want to especially recognize Travis and Lisa for being captains - a thankless and almost impossible job (especially having to put up with me).

Their captain's awards went to Jim, Beth, and Toby for their spirited play. We'll hopefully play again next year, and we missed those people who were the "maybes" on this list and didn't make it. Brent, Shawntel, Austin.... we could have used you!
