Olympia Artesians Co-Ed Traveling Team |
We had a great group people, including some veterans and rookies. As a costume tourney, the team went as a cast of cartoon characters who all had a motive to kill Kenny from South Park.

Toby, Lisa, Corey, Travis, Clint, Ron, Austin, Jake, Andrew
Casey, Jen, Jessee, Pam, Hannah, Molly, Erica, Beth
Ian (Kenny), Mike
The tournament was a great learning experience, thanks in large degree to our fearless captains, Corey and Jessee. They did a great job captaining, even though the entire team had to search half of Richland to look for them as they were meandering around lost. (What happened there?)
Captains Corey and Jessee humbly announce they are the capt's award winners
We improved tremendously throughout the weekend, playing more as a team than I have seen in a long time. For those people who missed it, or bailed out on us (steve...), you missed a fun-packed sunny weekend of ultimate.
Some of the highlights were:
Best costume: Sponge Bob (Clint). You guys gotta see the pictures of it. Check the website soon.
Our better half; or, 'why is Bob smiling?'
Best layout: Mike Santana, Sunday, game one. In the endzone for the score. The old guy can still get it done.
Bob? behave yourself
Best Capture-the-Flag team: Corey, Clint, Molly, Jessee, Hannah, Ron, and Mike. They went 4-0 by executing a brilliant strategy, an iron-clad defense, and blatant cheating.
Tinkerbell discovers new game: "Bob-tipping"
Captain Awards: Ron (hustle, great hands, and reliable throwing) and Hannah (all around exceptional play in all three positions), with honorable mention going to Ian and Erica
Tinkerbell vs. Bob, round 2
Worst "mingle" player: Clint. Did he really try to jump into Hannah's arms when "princess" was called?
Marvin's weak D no match for diving Squarepants
Most consecutive break mark inside out forehands: Ian, 32.
We always knew Lisa was everywhere, now we have evidence
Best defensive play: Toby, on a floater to the endzone
Casey for Governor, '08
Oly overall record for the weekend. 8-0! As Travis says, "is it win-loss, or loss-win". I can never remember. Does it really matter?.
