Oly Ultimate was victorious! As a wise sage once said, the fewer games you win, the more you savor the victories. And savor we did. After some hard luck losses and second half comebacks that fell short on day one, we gained our victory against the talented "Bachus" (a Portland team, not to be confused with our teammate) in the B bracket on day two.
Especially noteworthy was the play of our women, despite the misery of only having one sub -- Noel and Shelly handling as exceptionally as always, and our two new players, Beth and Lisa, creating havoc deep. Matt led the team in spirit (what'd you all expect from a team called "Skid Throw" and a glam rock theme?); Kirk, Ron, and Santana anchored the handling; Chris, Chris, Martin, and Bacchus were our defensive saviors and mid & deep threats; and of course, me - I mostly managed to clog up the passing lanes and huck it deep despite triple coverage.
Highlights include Santana's diving catch against the Gnomes, the Skid Throw version of John Denver's Country Roads, Lisa's uncanny ability to be constantly open in the end zone, and my person vote for the play of the weekend goes to Shelly's game winning catch - a masterpiece that was tipped by a poaching guy defender and she caught it by the fingertips while dancing the sidelines.
So next time we have a tourney, all the rest of ya will have to play
