Money (All)
We have some money from the spring league lemonade stand, and some money from the Geofest Masters team last year. We talked about using it for a team scholarship to help out a team player with tourney fees, buying new cones, and also buying jerseys or cleats for team players. I think Jon said he'd check out cone prices.
We will try again next year, perhaps on Memorial Day weekend.
Due to the potential for conflict with Sectionals, we decided to see if it was an option to switch Geofest to October 2nd. (Note: I sent a message to Lacey on 7/2, and haven't heard back as of this writing, 7/15).
Practices have been good, lots of positive feedback. Same with the Wenatchee tournament. Jon mentioned that we might have a rulebook practice, perhaps next rainy day, when we meet at the Fishbowl and study the 11th edition. Also, Jon and Kathy will not be captains next year. We encouraged Hannah and Will to volunteer.
Sunday pickup will be at 6 p.m. Concerns were expressed about the typical late start times. Pam will send out more emails.
We'll have one at 5 p.m. the Sunday before Potlatch.
Spring League had a higher level of play this year. We talked about possible venue change and/or expansion, but decided that we first need to find a new league administrator, finally, to take Andy Hayes' place.
We discussed opportunities to lobby for increased sports field space in our area. How can we keep aware of opportunities for public comment. Ideas included checking park dept. web sites on a regular basis, getting on some list serves pertaining to parks issues or budget reviews, contacting soccer groups with similar needs.
The Olympia youth ultimate club clinic was a success. Only 10 kids showed up, but they had a great time, ate well, and learned a lot, thanks to the many volunteers from the community. More advertising is needed for the next time. Perhaps someday we could do more for this group; for example, a Spring Reign sponsorship (could be part of our Potlatch bid?)
Monday, August 23rd, at Ian's house at 7 p.m.
