Name and Mission Statement

This was our initial meeting as a board, and our first agenda item was to choose a name: Our team name is officially South Sound Ultimate Players (SSUP). Unofficially, we can add Washington to the beginning, to make it WaSSUP.

Our mission statement goes like this: "Promoting Ultimate frisbee in South Sound as a healthy, fun, and spirited community activity." To achieve our mission, we will focus on two main goals:

Create a thriving Ultimate frisbee community, providing its members with a range of opportunities, including:
1. A reliable pickup schedule
2. One or more seasonal leagues
3. One or more travelling teams that will compete in NW tournaments
Develop youth Ultimate frisbee through outreach and education.

We had a lot of good ideas tossed around, and I didn't get them all. But one I got was Jen's suggestion for an exhibition game at LakeFair. Also, Beth and Clint's idea for a sandwich board or business cards to provide information to folks when we're throwing the disc downtown.

We agreed to have annual planning meetings at which we'll consider if we want to change our mission statement or goals, and reassign committees and/or committee members.

Leagues: led by Andy, helped by Jeremy, Beth, and Troy
Pickup: led by Jen, helped by Mike and Andrew
Coed Travelling Team: led by Beth, helped by Andrew and Mike
Men's Travelling Team: led by Corey, helped by Clint
Public Relations: led by Ian, helped by Jen.

We agreed that committee leaders would solicit additional helpers however they see fit. We agreed that approved minutes would be made available on the web site.
