For Geofest 2011, we tried to expand to 12 teams, and we ended up with our largest tournament ever: 11 teams. The weather came through again, with some sun, some clouds, and a light wind.
With 11 teams, we had to give 5 of them a bye. Each of the 3 Olympia teams took one, one was given to a smaller team, and lots of teams left before the last round. The Oly teams were divided by neighborhood. East, west, and south/central.
Our guests included returning champion Rowboat, and Bellingham brought two teams this year. We also added Natural 20s and Golden Robots from Portland, and Clusterhuck and the Fryz B team from Seattle.
Parity suffered some this year. Some of the games weren't so close and the champions dominated their way to their win. But still many of the games were close and fun was had by all.
Congratulations to this year's Geofest Champions: Mammoth from Bellingham. Some of the players on this team were in the finals last year, and went all the way at last.
Mammoth beat Oly South/Central in the B Pool final, and took the Geofest trophy to Bellingham.
Natural 20s beat Oly West Side in the C Pool final, and took the bragging rights to Portland.
Hippo beat Clusterhuck in a very close D Pool final, and took the bragging rights to Bellingham.
