Spring league will have a different structure than it has for the past 11 years. The local traveling team will be playing in the Seattle spring league, and the Olympia spring league will be smaller and more geared towards new or recreational players. Ultimate frisbee experience is not necessary, and fitness level is not important. This is a great activity to improve your health while meeting a fun group of people.
Also, this year we have a women's league on Thursday nights. Scroll down for details.
Women's Ultimate Frisbee Spring League
The registration link for Olympia's Women's Ultimate Frisbee Spring League is open. Games will be on Thursday evenings outdoors at Percival Landing in May and June. This is a recreational league. Previous knowledge of ultimate Frisbee is not needed, and fitness level is not important.
Last Saturday we had a successful kids ultimate frisbee open gym at the Olympia Center. Oly Parks and Rec has set aside more time for us to have another open gym for kids ultimate frisbee on March 22 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please send this message to anyone you know who may be interested. Kids thirteen and below are welcomed.
A small group of middle school students are organizing to play indoor ultimate in preparation for a possible coed spring league team. If you know of anyone who might be interested in giving this a try, or call him at 360 480 4722.
Here's a great article by a parent in the Bay Area about her experience watching her daughter play ultimate. If you're the parent of a child of either gender interested in playing, it's a good read. What Ultimate Does for Daughters
Olympia Ultimate Frisbee Team is Goin' O'School to Seattle Spring League
There still may be time for you to sign up for the Seattle Spring League with our Oly team, starting March 23rd through June 1st! The team is scheduled for five double headers, to cut down on travel time. See our team page for the schedule (and to see our logo on the cutest onesie ever)..
Play competitive ultimate with people other than Olympians! Minor commute, big fun. The price tag is $60. What a steal. . .
The roster number of full time players is set now at 11 full-time men, and 8 full-time women. There may still be 2 male spots, and 2 spots for women open. If you are interested in playing full time, or would like to be on a list of subs (who would chip in $10 per week if feasible), please contact captains Mia and Juggles.
Up All Night grew tired as the season went on, seemingly thriving on the longer nights earlier in winter. Fortunately, by winning their first 5 games, they had just enough to stay in first place, as Team (white) and Wolves of the Sea (blue) tied for second with 4 wins each. What seemed at first like an unbalanced league reached an exciting pinnacle in week 6, when both games ended in a tie. Congratulations to first time captain Joe P. for guiding his late-night team to victory.
Pickup on Sundays, 2 p.m.
Check our Facebook page for current pickup news.
We are currently playing Sundays at 2 p.m. at The Evergreen State College (near the tennis courts). We play rain or shine, so come out and play. Sometimes we're a few minutes late, but we will be there.
Whether you are coming from the north (Seattle, SeaTac Airport) or south (Portland): Take I-5 to Exit 104, and follow Highway 101 to the third exit (The Evergreen State College). Travel two miles on the Evergreen Parkway to the main campus entrance on your left. We play on the big open fields between the dorms and the tennis courts. Park on the right side, head in towards the school, and to the right, behind the CRC and the Utilities building.
